The Big Scoop

As the saying goes, when one door closes, another door opens!  On October 31st of this year, our first location at 95th and Nall is officially closing.  Before you despair, we wish to assure you that The Golden Scoop isn’t going anywhere!  In fact, it’s going on the road!  Closing our original storefront will allow us to focus fully on our more active second location at 103rd and 69 Highway, in addition to the new Golden Scoop on Wheels, our (first?) mobile store on wheels!

No one is losing a job over this!  All of our Scoopers employed at our 95th Street location will be moving over to either our 103rd Street location or into our new food truck!  Hours will stay the same, pay rates will stay the same, and the new food truck will allow us to hire even more Super Scoopers as our growing catering business truly, well, takes to the road!  So, actually, The Golden Scoop is expanding in new ways!

The new mobile storefront will be fully accessible, both for employees and customers!  The interior has a wheelchair lift for our employees who need it, and there is also a lower serving window installed next to the regular serving windows to accommodate our wheelchair-using customers.  Hopefully, that’s a trend that takes off for other food trucks!

The onboard equipment includes a freezer for your favorite ice creams, a baked goods rack, and a coffee machine, so we will be able to offer our entire menu on the go!  How many other food trucks can say that?  Our innovative Golden Scoop on Wheels is less a simple “food truck” and more of a full-service mobile cafe!

While we are saddened to see our original storefront close after five wonderful years, it signals the beginning of a new chapter in our story and the future of The Golden Scoop.  With the closing of our first door (both figuratively and quite literally), we take steps toward a more accessible, more mobile future.  A future where The Golden Scoop can bring its joy and mission to more people around the Kansas City area.
