The Big Scoop

Tuesday, September 29th, was National Coffee Day!  (Yes, that’s a thing here in the good, old U.S. of A.  We have a national day for just about everything, it seems.)  Whether you were celebrating Coffee Day yesterday or not (I arguably celebrate Coffee Day every morning), The Golden Scoop got in on the fun by creating a new drink: our new Snickers Bar Latte!  If “you’re not you” without your Snickers, this isn’t one to miss before it’s gone!

Roughly 66% of Americans drink coffee on a daily basis.  (The other 44% are lying about it.)  Tea isn’t quite as popular here as it is elsewhere in the world, particularly in Europe (those Brits and their tea obsession), and coffee is the pick-me-up of choice for people across the country.  It wasn’t until the early 2000s when people decided to give their favorite morning beverage a holiday of its own, though.  (In North America, Canada also celebrates a national coffee day, also on the 29th of September.  Other countries around the world have similar coffee-related holidays on other dates throughout the year.)

For those looking to extend the celebration of all things coffee into October and beyond, you’re in luck: International Coffee Day is served up every October 1st, the tradition starting in March of 2014 after being established by the International Coffee Organization.  

Whether you love coffee or hate it (why are you reading this article), National Coffee Day is a time to celebrate our favorite drink (the Brits are shaking their heads in disappointment across the pond).  The Golden Scoop offers many ways to enjoy your favorite beverage, hot or cold, so stop by for a coffee and baked good tomorrow morning (and maybe some ice cream to go with it, we won't judge).
