They're writing their own life stories. We just hand them the scoop.

The Golden Scoop is a Kansas City coffee shop and creamery built around one idea: young adults with unique abilities deserve real, meaningful, competitive employment, and a community that values exactly what they bring.

Meet the Super Scoopers

Our associates — we call them Super Scoopers — are the reason The Golden Scoop exists. They run the registers, work the drive-through, roast the coffee, cater the events, and yes, scoop the ice cream.

Hank

When Hank joined The Golden Scoop, he started as a Super Scooper. Today, he's working toward becoming a Shift Manager, a reflection of the confidence, professionalism, and leadership skills he's developed along the way. Hank is one of our biggest ambassadors, always ready with a smile and eager to share why he loves being part of The Golden Scoop. Our Story

The Golden Scoop opened its doors on April 14, 2021, in Overland Park, Kansas, with 21 super scoopers and a simple conviction: that young adults with unique abilities deserve real jobs, not just programs.

What started as one shop is now a workforce development program serving the whole Kansas City region — and in 2025 we trained 47 uniquely abled individuals, hired our first chief operating officer, and grew double digits across the business. But the number we care about most is still the people whose lives change when someone believes in them.
